Description
Here's my 2nd go, sorry it's taken a while
The Hyderabad League was initially formed in response to European intervention on the subcontinent. The shield of the Namamaye allowed the Indian nations to develop stronger ties and greater force of arms. While good relations have always existed with China and Namamaye, as well as other powers around the Indian Ocean, the League has in recent decades been seeking to expand their power beyond the subcontinent. Intervention in Afghanistan and Kashmir has secured Hyderabad control in the region, butting them up against both Chinese tributaries and the Habsburg's protectorates in the region. To the south, the League has also taken dominion over the small Hindu states in the south, once again staving off European interference.
The League has always been largely Hindu with a significant Muslim minority, especially in the states in the north-west. In recent decades however, an increasing number of Muslims have been fleeing the Habsburg lands from the west, often followed by Catholic missionaries, and Buddhists have been travelling down from the mountains passes from Confucian China. This mixing of cultures is generating intense debate in the temples and madrassas, with attempts being made to create some sort of reconciliation between the religions. Sikhism never developed in this world, and the people of Punjab state are largely Hindu.
