The flag, commonly known as the "Red Star Flag", is a descendant of the original Republic of California flag, still used in our timeline as a state flag today. When the region took up the reigns of independance, there were many loud voices proclaiming that no self-respecting modern nation should have a bear on their flag... thus, with the bear removed, the Red Star Flag was born...
