you're welcome, and yeah you will be right about that. It wouldn't surprise me if we see that by 2050.

Even though Calgary is now a part of this American federal union, it's nice knowing that my hometown survived Doomsday. :phew:

Should probably draw something for this in the future, if that's alright with you.

Thanks for the comment and fave :D Indeed it has, in fact it's probably grown as the hordes from the wastelands poured in to find shelter and supplies... like most AFU cities, it probably consists of an heavily fortified core, with huge slums speading out in the ruins of the suburbs ;)

If you ever do make something from it, send me a Note, I'd love to see :)

Alrighty, count on me to do it when I do.

And another thing, you should probably write out profiles describing the history and current situation for all the cities on this map if you could.

If you can think of something you'd like to do, I'd certainly be happy enough to come up with some details and the like :D That said, between my current main projects and personal life, it might take a while to get back to you sometimes ;)

Massive global warming :) I'm not sure exactly how much higher the sea levels are, but the climate is totally wrecked all round.

My main problem is that I usually get bored of my own stories, or else I put too much detail in and lose track of them, heh.

Damn you got out your idea for a post-apocalyptic pacific north west monarchy before me!

I'm uploading the lyric sheets the the anthem before you steal more of my thoughts.

"Islands (in the) Sea Of Time" - commonly used for a timeline where chunks of different alternate timelines or points in history are dropped into the same world in the past or future, and have to deal with each other and their new world :) An exmaple is as in the Nantucket series by Stirling, where the island gets sent into the past...

Soz, I roam alternate history forums, the term comes up more than you'd think, lol

I sometimes have a look at those sites. I have actually done one of those myself.

My world has technology in the most advanced nation equivalent to about the 1870's. How about yours?

Ahh, this world runs off the broken technology of the near future - computers running off generators, mechs patched together with metal striped from rusting cars etc.
The MOST advanced nation is Oregon, who build their own weaponary, generate masses of electrical power from both nuclear and oil, and have their own VTOL aircraft :) their main problem is lack of people - they're the least populated of the North American nations, and rely on automated robotics to run a lot of their industry.

Just ya general "environmental collapse, nuclear war, worldwide chaos and destruction" :) All the nations here are born from fragments of the surviving North American political and/or military forces of our own time. The AFU is the direct succesor-state to our own USA, and has for a long time been the strongest of the nations here, but recently has suffered from it's own sheer size. Travel across the blasted barren wastelands between cities is hard, as the land is poisoned with radiation and genetically enhanced plagues, still prevalent 340 years since the destruction.
Lawrence is a strong democratic nation, unlike the military junta of the AFU, and would be equivalent to a fairly advanced modern nation in our own world, were it not for the landscape.
The South-West survives on sea-trade with nations in Asia and Australia, and is protected by the tough boundary formed by the Rockies.
Oregon is perhaps the most odd nation here, with its civilisation based around the giant lake/reservoir formed in the middle of the nation by the damming of various valleys in the Rockies. Power from these dams fuels the nation's mass industry and technological advancement, and it is easily the most technologically advanced state in North America. It also holds colonies in Alaska, pumping oil.

Rats! I was planning on writing a story based on the same premise! :( I'd been thinking about the timeline for months.

Your map is so much better than my draft of late 21st century North America, I was about to PM you for help and now I see did such a great job on the same idea!

I try writing stories from time to time, but I don't have the patience... plus I tend to keep rewritting stuff all the time, until all I'm doing is just rewritting old stuff rather than making up new, heh.
This map and the backstory was just something that came to me while I was mucking about with a base topography map of North America :) This is a relatively accurate sea level rise, although I'm not sure by how much... lol.
